Drive By Shooting: The Streets of New York

Last night, after deejaying two events, I decided to go for a long drive to clear my mind. After deejaying in smoke-filled clubs, the late night drive home, along with a new audio book was the perfect way for me to wind down. I was initially disappointed because I wanted to drive with all of the windows down and the sunroof open so that I could enjoy some fresh air. The disappointment didn’t last long. Because I was determined to enjoy the moment I was in, I started to see how beautiful the city was in the rain. Here are some of the images from my drive home. Enjoy.

Deconstructing Harlem

While driving through Harlem, I came across a site that disturbed me. I never imagined the day that I would see a shantytown in the streets of Harlem. With all of the reconstruction going on, it seems that some of the residents can neither afford the rent increases nor the $800,000 price tag on a two-bedroom condominium. In some cases, these people have been forced to relocate and/or displaced and left homeless.

I thought that the revitalization of Harlem was intended to empower the people of the community by creating jobs and improving living conditions. Is this considered an improvement?
